Cookie Policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies teoq.co.uk uses, why, and how you control them. It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal data more generally.
2. How we ask for consent
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies with equal ease. We do not set any non-essential cookie until you choose. Rejecting does not block anything on the site. Your choice is kept for 12 months in a cookie called teoq_consent, and you can change it at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.
We keep a record of each consent choice (the categories chosen, the time, and the version of this policy shown) so that we can demonstrate we asked. That record holds a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser type, not your name or email.
3. Categories we use
Necessary. Needed for the site to work and for us to honour your choices. These are set without consent because the site cannot function without them, as the law allows.
Analytics. Help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We use a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not set cookies and does not track you across other sites. If we add a tool that does set cookies, it will only run once you accept this category.
Functional. Enable extra features you ask for, such as the website assistant remembering a conversation or the map on the Contact page. These load only after you accept this category or click to enable the feature.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
4. Cookies and storage we set
Necessary
| Name | Type | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| teoq_consent | Cookie | Stores your cookie choices so we do not ask again. | Teoq | 12 months |
| teoq_consent | Local storage | A copy of the same choice, kept in your browser. | Teoq | Until you clear it; asked again after 12 months |
| sb-…-auth-token | Cookie | Keeps an administrator signed in. Set only when an administrator signs in to the admin area, never for visitors. | Teoq (Supabase Auth) | Until sign-out or the session expires |
Analytics
| Name | Type | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics script | Script | Counts page views without cookies or personal data. Loaded only if you allow analytics, and only when analytics is set up for the site. | Plausible or Umami | Sets no cookie |
Functional
| Name | Type | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| teoq_vid | Cookie | Lets the website chat continue your conversation if you reload. Set after you send a chat message, and only if you allow functional cookies. | Teoq | 12 months |
| teoq_chat_cid | Session storage | Remembers which chat conversation you are in, so it continues if you reload. Only if you allow functional cookies. | Teoq | Until you close the tab |
| Google Maps cookies | Cookie | Set by Google when the map on the contact page loads. The names and durations are decided by Google, for example NID. See Google's privacy policy. | Set by Google |
The exact list is generated from the site's cookie registry at build time, so it stays in step with what the site actually sets.
5. Third parties
Where a third party sets a cookie (for example Google when you load the map), that party is responsible for it and its own privacy policy applies. We only load these services after you choose to use them.
6. Changing or removing cookies
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer to change your choices at any time. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings; if you block necessary cookies, parts of the site may not work.
7. Contact
